Mechanism and Applied Research of Aromatic Epidemic-Preventive Therapy for Preventing Respiratory Infectious Diseases via Modulating Lung and Spleen Systems through the Nasal Pathway

Abstract：
Respiratory infectious diseases often involve pathogens invading through the nose, first affecting the lung and then transmitting to the spleen, characterized by "nasal invasion first, followed by lung dysfunction in dispersion and descent, leading to spleen deficiency and weakened Zheng Qi". This paper focuses on the mechanism and applied research of Aromatic Epidemic-Preventive Therapy for preventing respiratory infectious diseases via nasal-mediated simultaneous regulation of the lung and spleen systems. It explains how this method enhances the nasal mucosal barrier to block pathogen invasion by opening the nasal orifices, activates pulmonary immune function by dispersing lung Qi to strengthen anti-infection capability, and regulates spleen-system immunity by activating the spleen to enhance overall disease resistance. The synergistic mechanisms are elaborated, including coordinating local nasal-pulmonary immunity with systemic spleen immunity, harmonizing mucosal immunity of the respiratory tract (nose-lung) and gastrointestinal tract (spleen system), and driving specific metabolic-immune interactions in the nose-lung-spleen axis to combat infection. The applied research is summarized, noting that prevention protocols incorporating this therapy have been recommended by clinical guidelines and expert consensus. Bioactive components of aromatic epidemic-preventive herbs can multi-targetedly regulate immune responses related to the nose, lung, and spleen. Clinical evidence demonstrates its efficacy in improving relevant clinical symptoms associated with the nose, lung, and spleen.

摘要：肺系疫病，疫戾邪气多经鼻入侵，先犯于肺，继传于脾，呈现“鼻先受邪-肺失宣降-脾虚正亏”的特点。本文聚焦芳香辟秽法经鼻同调肺脾预防肺系疫病的作用机制与应用研究，阐释该法通过开鼻窍增强鼻黏膜屏障阻断病原入侵，宣肺气激发肺部免疫功能增强抗感染作用，启脾土调节脾脏系统免疫提升整体抗病能力的核心作用；阐述其协同鼻肺局部免疫与脾脏系统免疫，协调鼻肺呼吸道与脾系胃肠道黏膜免疫以及驱动鼻肺脾特异性代谢-免疫协同抗感染的协同作用机制；梳理其防疫方案获临床指南与专家共识推荐，芳香辟秽中药活性成分能多靶点调控鼻肺脾相关免疫，临床证明其可改善鼻肺脾临床证候。
